Objectives

BDO is an accountancy and business advisory firm. Its global network operates in 167 countries with 1600 offices worldwide. BDO, in partnership with marketing communications agency The Bliss Group, wanted to increase BDO’s media share of voice in key industry publications.

Approach and Methodology

BDO’s annual survey gathers insights from key personas in the private equity space, so that BDO can lend it’s thought leadership and expertise to the topic.
By focusing on the state of the private equity market with subtopics such as future strategies, challenges, M&As and ESG, the survey questionnaire was designed to create insights that could be used to create compelling content that can earn media coverage.

Quantitative research was conducted, polling 405 U.S. private equity fund managers and operating partners, 200 U.S. portfolio company CFOs and 50 U.S. board members. Each persona group was asked 20 questions, in order to cover each topic in detail.

Outcomes

BDO and Bliss Group team created a whitepaper to showcase the results. The data was covered in major press and trade publications such as the Wall Street Journal and Institutional Investor. It also provided the opportunity for BDO partners to speak with Courtney Vien on Morning Brew to discuss talent shortages and staffing issues impacting portfolio companies.
